Today is National DNA Day, a commemoration of the discovery of the double helix in 1953, and completion of the Human Genome Project exactly 50 years later in April of 2003.

What better way to celebrate National DNA Day than by checking out "The Future of Individualizing Medicine" panel discussion, moderated by Bruce Japsen, columnist and blogger for Forbes Magazine? The panel is part of the Meet the Innovators Forum at the Edison Awards. 1 p.m. in the Chicago Cultural Center's Bradley Hall.

A handful of world leaders in genomic medicine will present on topics relevant to the Edison Awards' finalists. Mayo Clinic's own Gianrico Farrugia, M.D., director, Center for Individualized Medicine at Mayo Clinic, will offer an interactive presentation that features four patients whose lives have changed because of Mayo’s initiative to drive genomics and genetic medicine into patient care through the Individualized Medicine Clinic.
