Calling it "the first clinic of its type in the country," Mayo Clinic President and CEO John Noseworthy, M.D., discussed the Individualized Medicine Clinic during his "Three Imperatives to Transform Health Care in America" address to a sold out Press Club ballroom today in Washington D.C.
Quote of the day: When asked by a reporter how Mayo Clinic continues to recruit top physicians and scientists out of the big cities to Rochester, Minn., Dr. Noseworthy shared the following story:
A friend from NYC visits his home in Rochester, Minn. The friend asks: "How can you stand it here? ...There's no tension. ...In New York, we're always trying to beat the other hospital, take over their medical school, whatever... Everybody gets along here."
Noseworthy replies: "Well, we spend our time fighting diesase, I guess. It just depends on what you want to do."
