Amid the excitement of Individualizing Medicine 2013: From Promise to Practice, 18 international expert speakers from Mayo Clinic, Silicon Valley Biosystems, Stanford University, and the Personalized Medicine Coalition huddled in the conference media room to participate in a Twitter chat about genomics and the future of health care.

A big THANK YOU to the participants who took time away from the conference, and to Dr. Richard Besser, chief medical correspondent for ABC News and conference co-moderator, who hosted the chat as part of his regular series #abcDrBchat. Find him on Twitter @acbDrBchat.

Early analyses of the chat show that more than 200 people participated from around the world and that the knowledge and insights reached approximately 5.5 million Twitter users.

The transcript is available. Here are the Symplur analytics.

Below: the IM Conference war room with 18 experts working the chat, plus several from Mayo Clinic's Social Media and Public Affairs teams. Many tweeting for the first time. We're always glad to see how quickly people pick it up and run with it. By the end of the hour, one doctor who didn't have an account when he walked in, walked out asking when we were planning to do this again!

Enjoy!
