Clifford Hudis, M.D., to Give Keynote Address at Individualizing Medicine Conference 2014

Bringing Genomics From the Lab to the Patient

 

Mayo Clinic announced today that Clifford Hudis, M.D., immediate past president of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), will deliver the keynote address at Individualizing Medicine 2014: From Promise to Practice.

Individualizing Medicine 2014 is scheduled for Oct. 6–8, with optional workshops and sessions before and after the conference. Presentations will cover a wide range of topics, including cardiovascular disease, the role of genomics in the pharmacy, insurance and reimbursement issues, the use of deep sequencing for predictive medicine, and more. This third-annual genomics conference from the Mayo Clinic Center for Individualized Medicine takes a practical approach to helping medical professionals discover and integrate genomics technology into routine patient care. A poster session and reception will anchor activities on Tuesday, Oct. 7 with an exhibition of the latest research in individualized medicine and genomics.

Dr. Hudis is an internationally recognized researcher and practitioner in breast cancer. His research focuses on immunotherapies for cancer and the relationship between obesity and increased cancer risk. His tenure as ASCO president included guiding and steering oncologists and cancer providers during the rise of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (before surgery) and the impact of individualized medicine on clinical trials.
