Liewei Wang, M.D., Ph.D. is one of two Mayo Clinic physician-researchers named to one of America’s oldest and most prestigious medical honor societies. Dr. Wang, co-director of the Center for Individualized Medicine Pharmacogenomics program and Martin E. Fernandez-Zapico, M.D., a pancreatic cancer biologist, have been inducted into The American Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI).
ASCI is dedicated to advancing research that improves understanding and treatment of human disease. The Society is comprised of physician-scientists who are directly involved in patient care as well as those who are strictly in research. Selected from a field of several hundred nominees, Dr. Wang and Dr. Fernandez-Zapico were chosen based on their outstanding records of scholarly achievement in biomedical research.
“This recognition encourages us to further pursue our research in translational medicine to help bring basic discoveries to the bedside. It also makes us continue to appreciate the support of Mayo to help the development of disease-oriented research programs ” says Drs. Wang and Fernandez-Zapico.
